Family

My parents were Thomas John Morrison (born Inverness, 22nd October 1910, died Forfar, 6th June 1971)

My father, Thomas John Morrison, as a young man in Inverness (pre-1925). Everyone in the Highlands wore kilts all the time back then (and played the bagpipes, ate shortbread and spoke Gaelic).

and Christina Montgomery Williamson (born Dunfermline, 22nd January 1918, died Barnhill, Dundee, 24th November 2005). They met and married while they were both working at Wigan College of Mining and Technology.

My parents' wedding at Wigan, Lancashire, 26th September 1942.

The Morrison family in Brighton, Sussex, in 1951. I am seated on my mother's lap. The dog is an Irish terrier called Tim. I had been born in Hove-actually some months previously. A year or so after this photograph was taken we moved from Brighton to Wormit.

My father lectured in Chemistry in Wigan, Brighton and Dundee colleges and latterly he was Vice-Principal of Dundee College of Technology (now Abertay University). Apart from sports, at which he excelled, he also spent a lot of time playing violin and painting.
